Weekends at Mercer Street
Thu Dec 18 - Kevin Fowler (TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR)
The point behind each lyric, each guitar lick, and each twanging-rocking melody is the live show. Fowler has earned his reputation as one of the most amped-up concert performers to emerge from the modern day Texas country movement. For those that have experienced Fowler onstage, then you know he brings unbridled musical muscle to the platform. Backed by his trusty band he’s a dynamo – cracking jokes, hitting high notes, strumming his guitar and putting each of his fans in two-stepping mode.

6pm doors /$20 adults / Doug Moreland 7:30pm

Fri Dec 19 - Thom Shepherd (artist website)
Most people are first introduced to Thom by one of the long list of songs that he has written, but were recorded and released by other artists. He is the writer of the #1 singles “Redneck Yacht Club”, recorded by Craig Morgan, and “Riding with Private Malone” recorded by David Ball. He wrote the #1 Josh Abbott and Pat Green single, “My Texas.” Kevin Fowler recorded two of Thom’s songs, taking “Beer Season” to #1 for three weeks and “Cheaper To Keep Her” to #3 on the Texas Music Chart. He also wrote the GMA Canada Song and Video of the Year "A Father's Love (The Only Way He Knew How)" and the title track of Tracy Lawrence’s Grammy nominated album “The Rock”.
6pm doors /$7 adults / music starts 8:30pm
$10 under 21
Sat Dec 20 - Dale Watson  (TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR)
Born in Alabama, raised outside Houston, based in Austin, Watson came to country music early and naturally. His truck driving father moonlighted as a country singer, and his older brothers had bands as well. Dale remembers receiving his first guitar at age 7 and starting to write songs shortly after—“the same stuff I’m writing about now,” he says with a laugh. During his formative years in Pasadena, Texas (the town on the Houston outskirts that Gilley’s would put on the musical map), he began playing the local honky-tonks while still in high school.

Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash
Mark Stuart & the Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash have released several CDs containing their own original songs, beginning with a six-song EP in 1998.
“We aren't a tribute band,” said founder/front-man Stuart. “We never set out to be a tribute band.” Yet, the 2006 European release of Walk the Line helped the Bastard Sons book a 30-date European tour. In 2006, the band toured Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, Ireland, Scotland, and England.
Were the Bastard Sons endorsed by the Cash estate?
“We weren't endorsed by the Cash estate,” says Stuart. “We were endorsed by Cash himself...I met him at the House of Blues in Los Angeles in 1998. We were invited to his house in Hendersonville, Tennessee, where we recorded songs for our first record. He told us he would be honored if we were his bastard sons.”  (read more)
